What does delivery management software do?

Delivery management software runs the last mile. Orders come in, drivers are dispatched, routes are planned and every delivery is tracked to the door, in one system instead of spreadsheets, group chats and phone calls.

The category goes by several names: delivery management system (DMS), last-mile delivery software, courier management software, delivery dispatch software. Each describes the same job from a different desk.

Tranxort calls itself "The operating system for logistics." It covers six areas:

  • Dispatch and last mile

Order intake, dispatch to drivers, a driver app and proof of delivery.

  • Live tracking and alerts

Real-time tracking, customer notifications, tracking links and instant delay alerts.

  • Fleet and routes

Fleet management, route planning and driver performance.

  • Billing and cash on delivery

Billing, invoicing and cash on delivery reconciliation, in the platform that runs the deliveries.

  • Integrations

ERP systems, e-commerce platforms, WMS solutions and carrier APIs.

  • AI assistant

An AI assistant works alongside the operations team.

How does Tranxort run last-mile delivery?

From order intake to proof of delivery, in one system. Orders come in from connected stores and systems, dispatchers assign them to drivers, drivers work from the driver app, and customers follow along through notifications and a tracking link.

  1. Order intake

Orders come in, including orders synced from your storefronts.

  2. Dispatch

Dispatchers assign orders to drivers, with automated dispatch for express and same-day work.

  3. Driver app

Drivers receive and complete their deliveries in the driver app, in Arabic or English.

  4. Live tracking

GPS-pinned status at every milestone, proactive ETAs and an instant alert when a delivery runs late.

  5. Customer updates

Customers get notifications and a tracking link to follow their delivery.

  6. Proof of delivery

Digital proof of delivery closes each order.

  7. Billing and cash on delivery

Cash collected at the door is reconciled, and deliveries are billed and invoiced.

Route planning, fleet management and driver performance sit in the same platform as dispatch.

Delivery management software, TMS or fleet management?

They solve different problems. Delivery management software runs last-mile execution, a transport management system (TMS) plans freight and B2B transport, and fleet management looks after the vehicles. Tranxort is built for last-mile execution and also covers freight and cross-border tracking, plus fleet and routes.

Many operations run more than one of these, and every hand-off between systems is a place where data can break. Logistics software in the UAE and Saudi Arabia is sold under all three labels, so ask which job a product does before you compare features.

Who uses delivery management software?

Any team that promises a customer a delivery and has to keep that promise. Tranxort is built around four kinds of operation: last-mile delivery, e-commerce and retail, freight and cross-border, and pharma and cold chain.

  • Last-mile delivery

Automated dispatch, live driver tracking and proof of delivery for high-volume urban and same-day routes.

  • E-commerce and retail

Orders synced from your storefronts, batch fulfillment and proactive tracking.

  • Freight and cross-border

Air, sea and overland freight, with customs documents, AWBs and carrier SLAs tracked from one console.

  • Pharma and cold chain

Temperature-sensitive routing, chain-of-custody logging and audit trails.

Every role works in Arabic and English, from the dispatch desk to the last-mile driver.

What does Tranxort measure?

Tranxort's operational analytics report route efficiency scores, carrier performance, cost per delivery and on-time delivery trends. Driver performance sits with fleet and routes, so routes, carriers, drivers and cost are measured in the platform that runs the deliveries.

The question each view answers:

  • Route efficiency scores: are the routes the right ones?
  • Carrier performance reports: which carriers keep their promises?
  • Cost-per-delivery breakdowns: what does each delivery cost?
  • On-time delivery trends: is the promise to the customer holding?
  • Driver performance: how is each driver doing?

Cost per delivery is also where pricing and margin decisions start. Our financial strategy team works on unit economics and pricing.

How does delivery work in Saudi Arabia now?

Volume is high and the rules are tightening. Saudi Arabia's delivery sector exceeded one million orders a day in 2025, and parcels transported passed 200 million a year, according to the Vice Minister of Transport and Logistics Services.

  • The Vice Minister also said e-commerce recorded growth of 30 to 40 percent.
  • In a report dated 17 December 2025, Arabian Business said Saudi Arabia would require a National Address on all parcel deliveries from the beginning of the following month, January 2026. The Transport General Authority warned that parcel delivery companies would have to refuse shipments without one.
  • LOGISTI, the unified regulatory window for logistics services, offers about 140 e-services. In land transport, license requests for vehicles and operators that move goods and parcels on Saudi roads are submitted and tracked there.
  • The National Transport and Logistics Strategy aims to raise the sector's contribution to GDP to 10 percent, and its annual non-oil revenues to about SAR 45 billion, by 2030.
  • Saudi Arabia rose 17 places to 38th of 160 countries in the World Bank's 2023 Logistics Performance Index, with strong results on logistics efficiency, tracking, timing, customs, infrastructure and maritime freight.

For a delivery operation, two things follow. The address has to be right before a parcel leaves, and dispatch has to keep pace with the volume. Ask every platform you consider how it handles the National Address.

How do you choose a delivery management platform in Saudi Arabia and the UAE?

Start with your operation, not the feature list. Whether you need a delivery management system for Riyadh, Jeddah or Dubai, ask about language, cash on delivery, the National Address, integrations, hosting and pricing, and get each answer on a demo.

How does Tranxort connect to your ERP?

Through its ERP integrations: Tranxort lists SAP, Oracle and Odoo among the ERP systems it connects to, next to e-commerce platforms, WMS solutions and carrier APIs. Zamarks implements ERPNext and Odoo, so when the ERP itself needs work, the same firm can do it.

A delivery system is only as good as the order data it receives. Settle these before you connect the two:

  • Which system creates the order: the storefront, the ERP or both.
  • Where delivery status and proof of delivery should land.
  • How cash on delivery and delivery charges reach the ledger.
  • Which records the two systems share, such as customers, addresses and items.

ERP implementation covers design, build and integration on ERPNext and Odoo. APIs and system integration connect the rest of the stack.
